Want to help shape a TV channel?
Notts TV is looking for a Deputy Head of Output to help produce and edit its diverse range of TV programmes and online platforms.
The Channel is a successful independent local TV operation, licensed by Ofcom and available across Nottinghamshire on Freeview and Virgin Media, attracting an estimated 200,000 viewers monthly. It provides a sustainable example of the future of regional journalism.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a crucial role in the next stage of the Channel’s development; and would suit someone with a background in news either online or in broadcasting.
Reporting to both the Head of Output and Channel Editor, you'll work at a fast pace to tight daily deadlines – sourcing stories and guests, writing scripts and helping to build our daily news and chat show using our news diary and broadcast software.
An excellent writer, you'll also have great legal and local knowledge, plus the ability to report with balance and careful impartiality on a wide range of issues. In the absence of the channel editor or head of output, you will lead creation and writing of the programme, and news edit broadcast and online journalists.
Besides playing a key creative role in our daily news, you’ll also lead or assist in the creation of other programmes, especially our popular weekly football talk show Team Talk, so a background or interest in sport would be an advantage.
The role would suit a broadcaster or online professional with newsdesk and/or production experience, who is ready to take on more responsibility. The right candidate has an opportunity to take a leading role in the direction of the Channel.
Notts TV is housed inside Antenna, a creative business hub in the heart of Nottingham city centre's Creative Quarter. Besides our newsroom and live TV studio, there are shared meeting spaces, restaurant and bar.
This is a full-time role with occasional evening and weekend shifts. You'll earn a highly competitive salary, plus company pension, and an employee benefits package. Our offices and TV studio are fully accessible.
Notts TV is seen as one of the leading members of the local TV Network, broadcasting across the county and available on demand. Our 24/7 output is almost entirely Notts-made and includes a live weekday news show, plus sport, music, heritage and arts programming.
Since July 2021, Notts TV has also been home to the Local Democracy Reporting Service for Nottinghamshire, a team of journalists funded by BBC licence fee to cover local politics.
